While separation and divorce are extremely common in today's society, they present a stressful and challenging crisis for most people. People usually must grieve, work past feelings of fear, anger, or guilt, and discover how to adapt to their new identity as a single person, with its many challenges and adjustments. Therapy can provide important support, guidance and discovery of new resources during this often painful period. Building new dreams and plans for the future is one part of this work. If there are children in the family, counseling can help parents learn how to guide their children through their fears and anger.
