While most people become new parents with excitement and enthusiasm, few anticipate the challenges that emerge along the way. Many parents find themselves repeating the very patterns which were harmful to them as children, or over-correcting in the opposite direction. Therapy can help parents sort through their reactions, clarify their children's struggles, and problem-solve to find the best solution. While child therapy involves working with parents as well, with adolescents this may or may not be the case. Working with teens is uniquely challenging because of the issues of developing identity, impulsivity and often poor judgement.
